Technical Trainer I Job ID #:5317 Location:LA - Natchitoches Functional Area:Engineering Department:5300 - Training Position Type:Full-Time Regular Education Required:Associates Degree Experience Required:1 - 3 Years Relocation Provided: Position Description Job Title: Trainer I Job Code: JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision the Suddenlink Trainer I delivers instructor-led training to new and veteran employees in a classroom setting; facilitates learning experiences in the in the work environment; and maintains subject-matter expertise in the areas of instruction. The Trainer I focuses primarily on one areas of training, generally new employee training. ILLUSTRATIVE ACCOUNTABILITIES . Provides quality internal and external customer service surrounding the Company values . Facilitates training classes for employees, including service and sales training . Assesses participants' abilities to apply material and take remedial action when necessary. . Provides feedback to supervisors regarding employees' levels of subject/skill mastery . Utilizes learning management system to schedule classes and maintain training records . Works with other team members to continuously improve training and its delivery . Sets up and maintains training facilities and equipment . Works on regularly scheduled days as well as unscheduled days and beyond regular work hours as required . Maintain Outlook calendar with current training schedule . Send advance notification of training events to Regional Management staff . Performs other duties as assigned . Completes advance preparation for training classes: training material, projector, flip charts and necessary supplies. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS . Ability to communicate in person and by telephone . Vision ability: close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus; ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires . Hand and finger dexterity to carry and to use tools and equipment as necessary . Ability to work while standing 50 - 70% of the time . Ability to carry, climb and operate extension ladder, (approx. 28 ft high and 75 pounds) . Ability to lift up to 75 pounds . Ability to climb poles using gaffs, hooks and climbing belt as needed . Ability to work in confined spaces such as crawlspaces and attics by crawling, bending, reaching, twisting . Ability to drive Company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner JOB QUALIFICATIONS . High school diploma or equivalent required . Associate degree or equivalent preferred . Skill in using a Windows-based computer . Basic skills in Microsoft Office programs . Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing . Demonstrated ability to make professional presentations and facilitate group processes successfully . Demonstrated ability to interact and relate positively with people of diverse experience, education, culture and age . Demonstrated expertise and experience in areas of instruction . Demonstrated ability to learn and master large amounts of highly technical information . Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional service to internal customers . Demonstrated ability to utilize critical analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving concepts and practices . Demonstrated ability to take initiative with regard to work and challenges . Demonstrated ability to organize time and work efficiently . Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others . Ability to mentor and assist class participants . Ability to coach and mentor other trainers . Demonstrated ability to work with little supervision . Appropriate valid driver's license and driving record within Company standards . Bi-lingual proficiency preferred in some locations WORK EXPERIENCE . Minimum of two years experience in the broadband communications industry . Training experience preferred WORKING CONDITIONS . Ability to work in climate-controlled areas . Exposure to typical office environment . Work indoors in poorly ventilated areas such as attics during extreme heat . Work performed near power lines and electricity . Work, including travel, outdoors in adverse weather conditions day or night .
